Spring Break Recap (Thursday edish.)
I wanted to post now so that I don’t have so much to post about on Monday.
Today- I actually met up with my students to go bowling. Since they live in Suffolk and I live at the beach, they originally wanted to have a beach day, but since the dumb weather has been in the high 50’s lower 60’s here, I suggested bowling. So we went. What kind of crazy teacher meets up with her kids on spring break? Insane. It was fun though! I love my kids.
Keith still hasn’t found a job. We’ve followed almost EVERY lead people have put in front of us, even if it meant Keith would have to take a job with weird hours or bad pay, anything to fill the hole that is turning into a massive pit that’s getting deeper and deeper. As I was playing with Indy today, I was preoccupied with the idea that we may have to break our lease and move in with my parents (again) at the end of June and I just said aloud, “What are we gonna do??” Indy thought I was talking to him and he said, “I dunno, Mama…You gotta look up and put your finger on your skin (your chin) like Dora and Boots do…” The thinking pose. Smart kid.
I went to the doctor on Monday to see what the deal was with these heart palpitations. He had me fill out a survey to see if I was depressed, then he did an EKG and had some blood drawn to test for thyroid issues. The results came back today- negative. Everything’s fine- nothing wrong with my ticker, not depressed, not pregnant, no hormone/thyroid issues. At the appointment, he also asked if anything big was going on in my life that could be adding extra stress. I told him about Keith losing his job which I guess is affecting me much more than I’d thought. So he prescribed me Xanex and told me to cut out caffeine and to “see where it goes from here.” If I’m still having palpitations in 2 weeks, I’m to schedule a “follow up appointment.” I feel like Xanex is really dangerous. I mean, people sell it to other people who can’t get a prescription…..wait a second…
Anyway, I guess the big thing is that I need to relax. So I’m now taking donations/gift certificates for massages, pedicures, free dinners and shopping sprees. Let’s go, people.
