Christmas is in 6 days!!!
It’s getting bad. And what’s worse- I keep forgetting to buy wrapping paper! I’ve got gifts shoved in every hiding spot in the house!

EDIT:
Christmas crafting! Thinking about moving my craft blog over here to tumblr. This doesn’t look exactly like the tutorial that I got it from, so I’m gonna try it again, since I still have half of Everything’s Eventual left to use!
What do you think?
I always talk about how terrible it is to purchase clothing and other accoutrement for little boys. I thought that the one area that was safe was the toys. I thought that because of the curiosity that boys naturally have, it would be much easier to just buy him something that looked fun. But that theory proved to be completely wrong. Here is a list of gifts I or another family member bought for Indy that turned out to be semi or full disasters:
1. A combo pack Mr. & Mrs. Potato head. Complete with a bunch of different costume pieces that the child can dress each potato head up in- like fireman, policeman, etc.
Indy opened this gift and just doesn’t understand the point of it. Not right now at least. He just keeps taking the eyes out, and putting them back in. What’s the fun in that?
2. An old-school slinky. The metal kind that are supposedly really great and difficult to break. I tried to show him the old stand by of letting the thing walk down the stairs, it makes it down 3 steps and then just tumbles the rest of the way down.
3. A stackable wooden train set. This was a gift from my sister that I had been thinking of buying for Indy for some time. He loves stacking things and I love getting him wooden toys, they just seem like they’ll last longer. The toy comes with 3 separate cars…the problem with this toy is that the blocks will only fit on certain cars…the cars that they came packaged on.
4. A small motorized, ride-on scooter. When my parents first told me about this gift, I was a bit apprehensive thinking, he needs to be able to control it and to understand that pushing the button makes him go forward and letting go of the button makes him stop. He was terrified. The thing is loud and jerks forward. Even though the box says 18 months and up, I feel like he’s still too young. Maybe he’ll get the hang of it sometime this year.
5. A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle remote controlled car. My parents bought this for him thinking it would be fun for him to watch. Again, he is terrified. I’m not sure why this time, but he is so scared of it.
There were a few successes though. So, I’m sure he doesn’t mind his toys and he will probably learn how to use and enjoy them, but I think next time, I may take him with me to the toy store, figure out which things he’s interested in and buy those.
